The best jeans are possibly the one item you’ll always need in your wardrobe. Put simply, they’re an investment you’ll never regret making, as they are the ultimate capsule wardrobe piece, no matter the season.

That said, finding the perfect denim can be a tricky business. Whether it’s the style, the wash, the crop, the waist or the length, there are many boxes to tick to find your ultimate style.

But fear not, I’ve scoured my favoured designer and high street denim brands to find the trousers to suit your body shape, and scroll down to shop the fabulous new season styles. And FYI, this is how you stop jeans going baggy.

High waisted flared jeans are a safe investment for this season, as 70s styles don’t seem to be going anywhere. They are nicely suited to tall girls, while petite and curvier frames can bank on high waisted mum jeans or culottes. I’m also a big fan of mum or dad jeans, which go with everything from cute tops to oversized shirts.

There’s something timeless and versatile about a pair of classic black jeans, especially paired with a roll-neck, checked blazer and headband, Sloane-ranger style. As with most trends, it’s all about proportion, so balance tight legs with a loose top.

Best jeans for your body shape

As for which style will best suit your body type, there are a few general rules to stick to, though I’m very much an advocate of wearing whatever makes you feel best regardless.

For curvy women, a high waist will be more flattering, and if you’re after a 50s style silhouette, flared cropped jeans will do wonders.

If your height is a big factor, whether you’re tall or short, many brands like Levi’s and Topshop offer most styles in different lengths. If you’re around 5ft, you’ll find that cropped styles that show off the ankle really elongate the frame.

So now that you’re an expert on all things denim, scroll down to shop my favourite styles.
